Now in its 8th year, the (EIASC) will be the sponsor once again for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, with Grand Marshall honors this year going to Eastchester resident Phil Denning and Anna Phelan being selected as Parade Honoree.
Being a great source of pride for Eastchester and even the surrounding communities and with usually thousands in attendance, the 2012 parade is stepping off at 3:00 p.m., beginning at in Tuckahoe and marching north on Route 22 to the .
The parade will feature twelve Pipe Bands, twenty Marching Bands and over 50 marching groups, including Police and Fire Departments from the area and a United States Army unit.
The parade's Grand Marshall Phil Denning’s long list of accomplishments include being a past President and Trustee of the EIASC; member of the Tara Circle Board of Directors, Cavan Men's Association and County Offlay Association; Founding Member of The Links @ Unionvale Golf Club; Honoree for the Aishling Irish Center; and a member of the Screen Actors Guild since 2001, playing the role of Father Peterson in The Royal Tenenbaums.
He emigrated from County Cavan in 1962 and has been an Eastchester resident for the past thirty-five years. Phil and his wife, Mary, raised six children, Elizabeth, Michael, PJ, Doreen, Caroline and Neal, and seventeen grandchildren. He has chosen Michael, PJ and Neal as his Aides for the Parade.
Anna Ascione Phelan was born in Naples, Italy and came to the United States in 1969 with her parents Mario and Concetta, and older brother Rick. Anna and her husband, John, moved to Eastchester sixteen years ago and are the proud parents of three wonderful girls, Katie, Brigid and Maura. She has been involved with the EIASC from the very beginning and can remember planning club events when there were only 100 members while she now has the privilege to run those same functions for over 350 people.
