"Walk to School Week" Begins Today in Bronxville

Many village organizations and officials are sponsoring the "Walk to School Week" event in hopes that parents will leave the cars at home and head to school on foot.

When I was in grade school, PS 30 in Yonkers was a stones throw away from my house and I always enjoyed walking to school, whether it was with my Mom or as I got older, with friends.

Beginning on Monday, Apr. 23, the PTA, Mayor Marvin, and the Bronxville School District will sponsor "Walk to School Week and this year, the efforts have been expanded from just one day to a full week.

Hoping that you'll leave the car at home, village officials would like to see everyone start the day off with a healthy walk to class and despite the inclement weather, hopefully village residents will break out the umbrellas and galoshes too!

Officials also would like to remind all parents and students to be sure and only cross the streets at the designated cross-walks and to always watch for traffic when doing so by looking both ways.
