Lawrence Hospital Appoints Long Time Bronxville Resident As Newest Board Member

Alexandra Samra, a resident of the village for over 35 years and an active player in past Lawrence Hospital projects and events has been appointed to the Board of Governors.

For someone who has had a hand in many various aspects of Bronxville village life, from education to business, Alexandra 'Xandi' Samra will now have one more title to add to her extensive resume after she was appointed last week to Lawrence Hospital Center's Board of Governors.

A mother of two adult children, she has not only given countless numbers of hours to the hospital, but has also seen her late husband Victor serve on the hospital board for 18 years and was also the Vice Chair of the Board and Co-Chairman of the Board’s Quality Improvement Committee.

Together through the years, the Samras have championed various expansion projects and the launching of new programs and services designed to further enhance Lawrence’s mission of providing the highest quality health care close to home.

Lawrence Hospital Center’s recently redesigned Post Partum Unit is one such capital improvement that the Samras generously supported and also bears their names. Additionally, Ms. Samra served as Chairwoman of Lawrence Hospital Center’s Gala Balls in 1994 and 1999.

Perhaps though it is Ms. Samra's wealth of experience as a knowledgeable and dedicated community member that is her greatest asset, having served as Chairwoman of the Bronxville School's Elementary School Council and also becoming co-owner of Kensington Paper for five years in the village.

In addition to pursing education and business excellence, Ms. Samra was a member of the Junior League of Bronxville where she served on its Executive Committee; and a Board member of the Maxwell Institute – an organization that offers outpatient chemical dependency treatment for adults, adolescents and their families.

Ms. Samra will begin a three year term on Lawrence Hospital Center’s Board of Governors effective immediately.
