Will Writers EVER Have Enough Resources?

Probably not.

Greedy thing that I am, I'm always on the lookout for more. I was thinking of this recently when I came across a wonderful blog post, "Research Tools for Today's Writers" (http://www.janchristensen.com/research-tools-for-todays-writers/#comment-1385), by author Jan Christensen. If you read the post, also take a look at the comments. A number of writers -- ahem, myself included -- offer suggestions about additional resources. The resource I suggest is refdesk (www.refdesk.com/), where I know I can find a dictionary, a thesaurus, and lots of other things.

I don't know Jan personally, although I consider her a cyber buddy. She's a terrific writer. I've read many of her short stories and one of her novels, SARA'S SEARCH http://is.gd/Sj9swY, which I highly recommend. If you go to her blog to read the post I mentioned, wander around and see what else she has to offer.

Since my last blog post on PATCH, I've published four more spoofs. Here are the titles with links:

NASA Fumes As Kepler Telescope Emancipates Himself http://is.gd/msa8Hi

Spock Had Ears Re-pointed by Plastic Surgery http://is.gd/GRUReU

Porpoise Switches His Tracking Device to Randy Researcher http://is.gd/G3zQcy

NASA Sued by Bachelor Rat on Mars http://is.gd/kX70id

They were fun to write, and all have done pretty well.  The "NASA Fumes..." one has the most readers so far -- 1,983 of 'em.

I'll end with some good news. Hot off the press! Untreed Reads has just issued its call for submissions http://is.gd/E0k0CL (deadline, Sept. 1; word count 1500 to 5,000 words) for mystery stories to be considered for its third THE KILLER WORE CRANBERRY anthology. I love the subtitle: Room for Thirds. As mentioned in a previous post, one of my stories is in the second anthology http://bit.ly/RwyLY8, sold at Untreed Reads and just about everywhere else where ebooks are sold all over the world. It's also available at Westchester libraries. Great publicity to be published in one of these anthologies. I enjoy having Untreed Reads sell some of my short stories http://is.gd/9uwEfO. Also, a system is now in place for sending these stories as gifts. If you forget to send a card to a friend or family member for a special occasion, send them a short story instead (you have a choice of formats).

Happy Summer!
