Viva Verdi!: Otello by Giuseppe Verdi

Levine. Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most influential romantic opera composers of
the 19th century, composed a total of twenty-eight operas from 1813
until his death in 1901. Otello is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an
Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare's play Othello.
It was Verdi's penultimate opera, and was first performed at the Teatro alla
Scala, Milan, on February 5, 1887. A special reception will close this
series of events dedicated to commemorate one of Italy’s greatest composers. The
program was made possible by the
