Re-envisioning Pakistan: The Political Economy of Social Transformation
Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
An international conference on historical realities and current challenges facing the country of Pakistan will be held at Sarah Lawrence College. “Re-envisioning Pakistan: The Political Economy of Social Transformation” will bring together scholars representing various disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, writers, journalists, and activists from Pakistan, the UK, and the US with a range of perspectives.
The conference will provide an alternative analytical framework to simplistic conceptions of the symptoms and causes of poor governance and a technocratic policy-making paradigm that plague scholarly work, policymaking, and media coverage in the country.
