Introduction to Latin Jazz

This lecture by Marshall Tilden will cover the development of early Latin Jazz from Cuba and Brazil.
Listen to how American jazz musicians created the sounds of Latin Jazz during
the later stages of the big band era and updated the music with the assistance
of Cuban and Brazilian musicians.   Artists such as Dizzy
Gillespie, Tito Puente, and Stan Getz provided the basis of what makes the
sound of Latin Jazz.  Live and recorded
music will enhance this lecture.  Marshall
Tilden
is a jazz musician and taught at Westchester Community College, Scarsdale
Adult Education and Yonkers Public Library.  He gives presentations
and
performs throughout Westchester.
