Father of Flight 93 Hero To Speak at Manhattan College on Oct. 22

David Beamer will speak about the courage, honor and sacrifice his son, Todd Beamer, and the passengers aboard Flight 93 displayed on Sept. 11, 2001.

David Beamer, father of Sept. 11 hero Todd Beamer, a passenger on United Flight 93, will visit campus on Tuesday, Oct. 22, to discuss Courage, Strength and Honor and how the terrorism attacks strengthened his faith. The event is sponsored by the School of Arts, Government department, and Government and Politics student club at Manhattan College.

Famous for the phrase “Let's Roll,” Todd Beamer organized his fellow passengers to fight back and take control of their hijacked flight on Sept. 11, 2001, preventing it from hitting its intended target, which is believed to be the White House or Capitol Building. The plane crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pa., killing all aboard.

Since that mournful day, Beamer’s father has become an outspoken and passionate advocate for his son and for educating the public about Flight 93. He has spoken on numerous national news programs and has appeared at universities and religious institutions around the country. Currently, he is a board member of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

The Oct. 22 event will start at 1 p.m. in Smith Auditorium and is open to the public. Please email Falvarez01.student@manhattan.edu with questions about the event.
