War! Queers! Intrigue! Math! Codebreaker tells the inspiring true story of a young genius whose visionary mathematical ideas cracked the Enigma code, hastening the defeat of Hitler and Nazi Germany. The film also recounts the relentless persecution suffered by this would-be war hero at the hands of his own government in its disgraceful response to his homosexuality. Though Turing’s place in the pantheon of great 20th-century intellects is widely recognized within academia, his accomplishments and life story remain surprisingly unknown elsewhere. This award winning drama-documentary aims to change that.
Q&A with Patrick Sammon, Codebreaker Executive Producer, and SLC faculty members Julie Abraham, Jefferson Adams, Dan King, and James Marshall follows the screening.
