Veterans Day Closures in Our Area

Even though Veterans Day was on Sunday Nov. 11, schools, government institutions, banks and libraries will be observing the holiday today.

Veterans Day, a day marking the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918, also is a day to thank all Veterans for their service to the Country.

In 1938, it was officially named a legal holiday and even though the date has moved around a few times, Nov. 11 has been the official date since 1978 for celebrating our Veterans.
