Veterans Day Closures in Our Area

Even though Veterans Day was on Sunday Nov. 11, schools, government institutions, banks and libraries will be observing the holiday today.

Veterans Day, a day marking the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918, also is a day to thank all Veterans for their service to the Country.

In 1938, it was officially named a legal holiday and even though the date has moved around a few times, Nov. 11 has been the official date since 1978 for celebrating our Veterans.

Here in Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe, all Schools, Banks, Village and Town offices and Public Libraries will be closed today.

There will be no mail delivery or garbage pick-up as well.

Earlier this year, Playland Park hosted its 5th-annual Veteran's Appreciation Day and Memorial Day Tribute, for highlights click here.
