Gas Lines Cripple Traffic Around Bronxville-Eastchester

Long lines are forming in and around all major roadways that have open gas stations and motorist should take note of some of the worst trouble spots.

As Hurricane Sandy's effects continue to alter daily life in Bronxville-Eastchester, a growing concern is now about how to fill your car up with gas, as many stations are still not operational due to power loss or low supply.

"It's crazy," said White Plains resident J.P. Endres, who had to go on a journey around Westchester today to try and find gas with unsuccessful results.

"I first went to Lake St. in West Harrison, then up to Purchase, then to the Mobil station off the Hutchinson River Parkway which was backed up for over a mile," Endres explained, "it's really is a bad situation."

Patch has scouted out some areas around Bronxville-Eastchester as places to avoid driving to due to an unusually high level of congestion of cars waiting in line for gas at gas stations in the area today.

Hearing that Central Park Ave is jammed and many out of gas. Hour-long waits. Plus heard the same in Rye, too. White Plains & N. White Plains has gas stations that are open & have fuel. Shell on Virginia Road and 2 stations on N. Broadway in WP.

I'm glad I filled up before the storm hit. Of course, I don't plan to go very far with all the road closures.

I agree-filled up Sunday and haven't really been able to drive much, so conserving gas. Lines were outrageous in White Plains, Valhalla, Hartsdale, Ardsley & Scarsdale!
