Sorry, Postponed Due to Weather! Horticulturist Kim Eierman To Speak To Pleasantville Garden Club On Ecobeneficial Gardening
Environmental horticulturist Kim Eierman will speak on "EcoBeneficial Gardening 101: Boosting the Ecosystem In Your Own Yard" at a public meeting of the Pleasantville Garden Club on Thursday, January 2 at 9:30 a.m. at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church, 400 Bedford Road.
Eierman's talk will demonstrate how traditional landscaping practices have actually damaged our environment. She will illustrate how homeowners can improve their local ecosystems through simple ecological design and the use of appropriate native plants. The net result can be bio-diverse landscapes with ecological balance, greater resistance to pests, diseases and extreme weather events, improved ecosystem services and reduced costs.
A Certified Horticulturist, Accredited Organic Landcare Professional, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist, Eierman is also an Adjunct Professor at Westchester Community College where she sits on the steering committee for The Native Plant Center. She also teaches at the New York Botanical Garden, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Native Plant Center and the Rutgers Home Gardeners School.
