Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting 2013

This year’s tree, courtesy of Shelton Ct. has arrived in NY and was put up this morning.   The festivities will begin with lighting and various musical guests on December 4th.  As usual, Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is illuminated daily from 5:30 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. daily, except on Christmas and New Year's Eve. On Christmas, the tree is lit for 24 continuous hours and on New Year's Eve the lights are turned off at 9:00 pm in anticipation of the New Year's celebration in Times Square.

I attended the tree lighting for the first time last year and only caught a glimpse of the tree from the side of a building.  I was lost in a sea of people that had to keep trying to get closer...and closer...and closer.  Before you know it you are much closer without making much of an effort, just let the bodies gently push you along.  Get there early, dress warmly, and be prepared to stand for a few hours.  Most importantly, enjoy the spirit in the air and don't let that NY State of mind get in your way.
