Partnership expands MetroPool’s sustainable transportation services. Designed to reduce fuel costs and carbon footprint for municipalities and companies.
MetroPool, a leader in the development, implementation and promotion of transportation programs and mobility solutions for companies, public agencies, communities and commuters for more than thirty years, announced today the launch of its strategic partnership with Ecodriving Solutions (EDS). The agreement represents the first in a series of partnerships that MetroPool has been cultivating as part of its new strategic direction and social enterprise mission.
Ecodriving is a new way to drive that reduces the use of fuel and minimizes maintenance costs. The practice is taught in interactive in-person training sessions and is also taught online. Training is provided to fleet drivers through their employers, including companies and government agencies.

Ecodriving Solutions, based in Phoenix, AZ, has designed and implemented results-driven training for Fortune 500 companies and governmental agencies for more than fifteen years. “We are very pleased to be to be collaborating with Ecodriving Solutions to deliver this important training that maximizes fuel savings while minimizing environmental impact, stated John Lyons, MetroPool’s CEO. “This partnership is completely aligned with our mission as a sustainable transportation solutions provider and EDS represents the best-in-class standard we have always maintained.”
While ecodriving practices are widely accepted in Europe, U.S. communities and companies are just beginning to take a closer look at the multiple advantages and bottom line results that the training produces. “The financial, ecological and social returns from a few simple changes in driving behavior makes our training a solid return on investment,” Drew DeGrassi, founder and president of Ecodriving Solutions said. “The shortest route to lower transportation costs is the one you have the most control over — your driving behavior. Ecodriving Solutions trains drivers to reduce their fuel consumption, maintenance costs and carbon emissions every time they get behind the wheel.”The MetroPool and Ecodriving Solutions partnership will launch on Friday June 6, 2014, with a pilot training session for the City of Yonkers. Lyons said that Mayor Mike Spano’ s leadership in adapting economically driven sustainability initiatives was the primary inspiration for approaching Yonkers as an ideal environment for the first training. “We’re delighted to be hosting this initial pilot in collaboration with MetroPool and Ecodriving Solutions,” said Brad Tito, Director of Sustainability for Yonkers. “Mayor Spano is excited to demonstrate that small changes in driving behavior can lead to big savings at the gas pump. It’s not only good for the planet, it’s good for the pocketbook of taxpayers. We applaud MetroPool for continuing to develop responsive programs to strengthen our community’s green mobility commitment.”
