Weekend Planner: Artists and Dedications

Here are a few events taking place around the Bronxville-Eastchester area. Be sure and add any local events we may have missed to our calendar!

 

Now that the weekend is upon us, here are a few family fun events happening in and around our area this weekend:

Yonkers Riverfest Dedication - Yonkers

  • A new park surrounding a recently unearthed portion of the Saw Mill River will have its grand opening Saturday Sept. 8 at the 20th annual Yonkers Riverfest. In what is considered one of Westchester's biggest outdoor festivals, the park dedication will headline a day of music, food and entertainment on the waterfront that typically attracts more than 25,000 visitors. Festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Main St. and Riverdale Ave. in Yonkers.

  • On Friday Sept. 7 at 7 p.m., Umberto E., the epic story of Umberto Evangelista, a dynamic and charming ninety-year-old Italian immigrant living in New York City, will be shown at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center.  The movie depicts his real life Cinderella tale, in which he chooses love and forgiveness as his weapons of revenge. (45 minutes). Q & A with director Anton Evangelista will follow and you must register in advance and prepay. Members $10, Non-Members $20 You can purchase tickets by clicking here.

  • A photography show, by Westchester resident Robert Uricchio, will be held in the Community Room of the from Sept 4 - Oct 1. There will be approximately 30 landscape images on display most of which were taken in the Hudson Valley area.

  • The public is invited to the Opening Reception for artist John (Jack) Moran on Sunday, Sept. 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bronxville Women’s Club, 135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville. There is no charge for the reception and the exhibit will be available for viewing from Sept. 4 through Sept. 27, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
