Tuckahoe Welcomes New Biz: The Dance Gallery

Located directly above Growlers at 25 Main St. in Tuckahoe, the new dance studio hopes to be a new option for parents to take their aspiring dancers to ballet classes and learn from an accomplished dancer.

Last week, Tuckahoe Mayor Steve Ecklond along with the Eastchester-Tuckahoe Chamber of Commerce welcomed Stephanie Fagen Urbina, founder of to Tuckahoe during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new facitlity, located at 25 Main St.

Urbina, who is a New Jersey native, stared her first ballet school at the age of 10, in her parents house where she would instruct all of the neighborhood girls.

While in high school and college, Urbina found her love of dancing for a cause when she organized a company to perform at various retirement homes and sponsored a benefit which raised thousands for Hurricane Katrina victims.

She went on to study with the Joffrey Ballet, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, Gelsey Kirkland and Elisa Monte. Stephanie has performed throughout New York City(Carnegie Hall, Teatro La Tea, Steps NYC) abroad in Prague and in Philadelphia(Merriam Theater, Drake Theater).

In 2007, she received her BFA in Modern Dance from the University of the Arts graduating Magna Cum Laude. While a student at the University of the Arts, Urbina was awarded the Promising Artist Scholarship and was elected as her student government's Class President.

Throughout her career, she has performed the works of Momix, Martha Graham, Milton Myers and was recently featured in the popular workout DVD for Physique 57.

With her passion always having been teaching, she could not be more excited to share her love of this beautiful art form with residents of the village and beyond.

Join The Dance Gallery on Friday, Aug. 17 for their Annual Summer Gala at 7:00 p.m. where guests can be dazzled by performances from dancers and faculty, with an opportunity to meet and mingle with cocktails & snacks.
