Chamber Chatter: Specials for Moms and the Prom

While we welcome the month of May, we begin it on a somber note. Alfredo Cruz, our longtime member and owner of , passed away last week.  We mourn his loss and send our condolences to his wife, Lee.  Lee and Alfredo have been in business in Bronxville for almost 30 years and have many friends here.  Alfredo was a larger-than-life personality and we will miss him.

will host two literary evenings this month. On Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m., the Friends will host a “Books and Coffee” evening.  The evening is a discussion of the book, “Daniel Patrick Moynihan: A Portrait in Letters of an American Visionary,” by the author and former Bronxville resident, Steven R. Weisman.  Weisman will sign copies of his book.  Michael Elliott, deputy managing editor of Time magazine, is our host for the evening. Two weeks later, on Thursday, May 19, relax over a glass of wine and join in a conversation with Anne Kreamer, author of  “It’s Always Personal: Emotion in the New Workplace."

will hold a trunk show by ISDA on Friday, May 6.  ISDA is a trendy but classic design label that looks good on everyone, including moms. Stop in and check it out for yourself!

On Friday, May 6, presents “Trails to Treasures."  The fun begins with a champagne reception from 9-11 a.m. at the Bronxville Field Club.  Shopping and a home tour will follow the reception.  Proceeds help to fund the charitable projects of the Junior League. 

The always-lively has lots of fun in store for Mother’s Day weekend.  There will be store-wide specials all weekend, and a special raffle will be held on Sunday. 

On Saturday, May 7, will hold its annual Spring Fling.  Along with a petting zoo, bouncy castle, games, and music, the school will have a ceremony dedicating its outdoor playspace to Jan Gray.  The event will run from 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. at the school on 17 Sagamore Rd.
