New Bronxville School Foundation Board Members Named

The Bronxville School Foundation, a non-profit organization that has given more than $6 million in grants to enhance the quality of education at the Bronxville School, has begun the new school year with three new board members along with a new slate of officers for the upcoming year.

Christine Fitzgibbons, former Vice President of Grants, has been elected Chairman of the Board replacing outgoing Chairman Suzanne McCann. Christine joined the Foundation Board in 2009. In addition to her work on Grants, she also served as Secretary and on the Development and Finance Committees.

Timothy McGrath graduated from Fairfield University with a BA in Social Studies. Tim is a former teacher at St. Joseph’s School and Archbishop Stepinac HS. He served as the Varsity Basketball coach at Bronxville HS and Stepinac HS, and he now coaches for St. Joseph’s, BYLA and TYA. Tim works locally, running the family business, Fred H. McGrath & Son, Inc. He serves on the boards of The Bereavement Center of Westchester, Gramatan Village and is also on the Middle School Council. Tim has previously been on the boards of The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe, the Parish Council of St. Joseph’s Church, The Rotary Club of Bronxville and he served as President of The Bronxville Chamber of Commerce. Born and raised in Bronxville, Tim attended the Bronxville School through eighth grade and graduated from Fordham Preparatory School. He has four children who attend the Bronxville School. 

Nancy Yu Kochansky earned an AB from Duke University and an MBA and a Masters in Asian Studies from the University of Michigan.  She is currently serving as Chief Operating Officer of ViaBay Capital, a healthcare investment firm.  Prior to Viabay, Nancy spent nearly ten years working in Equity Research at Morgan Stanley, first as a pharmaceutical analyst and most recently as an Associate Director of Research.  Nancy is serving her third year as the Treasurer of the ES Council and is also the chair of the MS Chess Club.  In addition to her involvement at the Bronxville School, Nancy will be class co-chair for her 2014 reunion and is an active alumni interviewer for Duke University.  In 2012, she taught an International Management course at Concordia College and served as a curriculum consultant for the college’s new graduate program in Business Leadership.  Nancy has four children attending the Bronxville School.

Matthew H. Burnell graduated from Amherst College with a BA in Political Science and earned an MBA degree from Northwestern University. He is currently a Managing Director in Equity Research at Wells Fargo Securities, responsible for team coverage of U.S. banks. For the past decade, Matt has been active in fundraising for Amherst College and other organizations. Matt lived in Bronxville from 2000 to 2006, returning to Bronxville in 2010. He has three children attending the Bronxville School.

"These three new board members are exceptionally talented and committed individuals who bring a breadth of valuable experience to the Foundation,” said newly elected chairman Christine Fitzgibbons. "They are certain to make significant contributions to our school and the Foundation's initiatives. I look forward to working with them."

Other directors and officers for 2013-2014 include: VP Development: Suzanne McCann; VP Grants: Ashley Hanrahan; VP Alumni: Susan Kelty Law; VP Public Relations: Helena McSherry; VP Nominating: Michael Sands; VP Finance: Terry Mullen; VP Legal: Chris Palermo; Secretary: Steve Thomas; Executive Director: Peggy Williams.

Returning Board Members include: Beth Aherne, Lisa Smith Barr, Tacey Carroll, Melinda Dempsey, Cathy Flanagan, Molly Hendrick, Joella Lykouretzos, Laura Pettee, Dave Reilly, Chris Scotti, Briscoe Smith, Jennifer Thomas, Brennan Warble, Matthew Wetty and School Superintendent, Dr. David Quattrone. The Foundation Board will also include PTA Vice President Jill Pytosh, and School Board Liaison Jim Hudson.
