Snow Totals for Putnam, Rockland, Westchester: National Weather Service

Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties missed the brunt of this week's snowstorm, according to unofficial reports from the National Weather Service.

The NWS had eight community reports of snow accumulation across the tri-county area. The highest amount, 9.4 inches, was reported in Scarsdale.

According to Mike Silva, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Office in Upton, the storm held no surprises. "This pretty much panned out exactly as we expected," he said. "We expected six to 10 inches of snow, with maybe a little bit higher out east. Some places managed to touch a foot."

Winds, however, weren't quite as fierce as initially predicted. With the wind chill factor, some areas felt as though it were minus 11 degrees, with a range of minus three to minus eight.
