With rides, games, good food and live music, families across Westchester flocked to Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester on Columbus Day to take advantage of all the fun on the final day of the three-day Italian Heritage Festival that took place over the holiday weekend.
Despite gray skies and cool temperatures, kids packed the carnival from end to end, enjoying every minute of the autumn fun while dancing to the sounds of Italian music that could be heard in the background.
Meredith Conway came with her family from the Bronx and says that she loves celebrating Columbus Day in Eastchester each year.
"It's a tradition now," said Conway, "the fact that this is a free event and that the whole family can enjoy being here all day is amazing and Eastchester should be very proud."
Her son Nick, who is 13 and was in the process of eating his seventh Zeppole said that, "this sure beats being in school," as he wiped powdered sugar from his face.
