Need a Final Fireworks Fix Before Winter?

The Grucci extravaganza on Columbus Day Eve in Eastchester should be visible for miles.

A glorious exhibit of fireworks by Grucci will light up the night sky Oct. 13 in southern Westchester.

It will kick off the annual Columbus Day celebrations in Eastchester.

The fireworks, organized by the Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester, will be fired from multiple locations on the golf course at Lake Isle Country Club.

"Some will reach an altitude of 500-plus feet," said Grucci Chief pyrotechnician Charlie DeSalvo. "They will be visible from miles away."

Fireworks by Grucci (www.grucci.com) is a fifth-generation family
owned and operated company that dates back to 1850.

The show will start at 9 p.m.

In other Columbus Day news, the Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester-Tuckahoe, which hosted last weekend's Columbus Day-St. Pio Festival in Tuckahoe's Depot Square, will present Allison Ciamarra, Miss Columbus 2013, with a $10,000 college scholarship from the Generoso Pope Foundation on Oct. 4 at The Fountainhead in New Rochelle. Also to be honored are Dominic Cesarini, who has been named Man of the Year and the DiRienzo Family who are receiving the Family Legacy Award.

Editor's Note: The original version of this article conflated two organizations. The Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester is organizing the Oct. 13 fireworks. The Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester-Tuckahoe is holding the Oct. 4 dinner. Patch regrets the error.
