The following announcement is from the SPCA of Westchester:

SPCA of Westchester’s Law Enforcement (HLE) Division received a call to their confidential hotline on Wednesday, April 16th about an abandoned dog in distress at the corner of Oriole Avenue in Bronxville, a few blocks down from Concordia College. When HLE Director, Ernest Lungaro arrived at the scene, he discovered what looked to be a West Highland Terrier mix abandoned and closed in a pet carrier with no food or water, left out in the sun on the side of the road. The dog, now named Lampchop by SPCA staff, was abandoned for quite a few hours before a good Samaritan finally made the call to the SPCA HLE hotline, after witnesses came to the conclusion that no one appeared to be coming back for the dog.

The SPCA is thankful residents called us when they did so,” says Director Lungaro. “Lampchop didn’t have to spend the night outside where he would have been vulnerable to wildlife and colder temperatures or could have fallen into the wrong hands.”

Lampchop is doing well at the SPCA and seems to be in good health and will be ready for adoption shortly. We are asking anyone with any information regarding this dog to please call the SPCA’s Animal Cruelty Hotline at 914-941-7797. All calls are confidential.

The SPCA of Westchester is located in Briarcliff Manor and is a no-kill shelter. The SPCA is not affiliated with the ASPCA. Website: www.spca914.org.
