Village Lutheran Church Welcomes Seminary Students from St. Louis
Bronxville, NY- On Monday June 2, 2014 seminary students spent the day at Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School. The students were 1st year seminary students from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis.
They are currently taking a course on The Holy Ministry in Urban Context and are visiting dozens of churches in the New York Metro area discovering how local congregations operate and looking at best practices from pastors and Congregations in the Field. The class is taught by Rev. Dr. Dien Ashley Taylor who is pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Bronx.
Speaking about the Seminarians stop at Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School, Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, Senior Pastor said, “It was so nice to share our unique ministry with the seminarians and to hear their interesting questions.” Highlights of the trip included stops at several classrooms, seeing dismissal, having a prayer service in the church and an impromptu performance by the Chapel School Select Choir. The seminarians then enjoyed a lecture that evening given by Cardinal Dolan.
