Three Term Clerk Spano Announces Endorsement

Westchester County, NY - Leonard N. Spano former Westchester County Clerk has announced he has fully endorsed Mary Beth Murphy for County Clerk, a position he had been elected from 1994 until 2005 when he retired from civil service.

In endorsing Mary Beth Murphy for election Mr. Spano said” I served Westchester County Clerk for many years and know how important it is to provide the services people need at a cost that is friendly to the taxpayers.” Mr. Spano then continued; “As a local Town Supervisor for nearly 15 years, Mary Beth Murphy never forgets that every taxpayer dollar is hard earned.” 

Leonard Spano introduced and improved many aspects of the County Clerk’s office such as the “Mobile Office” which brings the services of the County Clerk’s Office to the public and introduced the Green initiative and cost saving scanning of documents before NYS mandates came into place – it is with great humility that I accept Mr. Spano’s support and appreciate all of the guidance he has provided to me” said Ms. Murphy.

Westchester County Clerk candidate Mary Beth Murphy also stated that “I look forward to building on the many inroads the office has seen and bringing forth ways to make the services provided even more cost effective to the taxpayers.”

  Mary Beth Murphy is in her eighth term as the Supervisor of the Town of Somers.  As Supervisor she is responsible for the management of the Town including annual budgeting, capital project oversight, policy and ordinance formulation and implementation, personnel management and constituent communication. She is known for her leadership in numerous collaborative efforts with all levels of government. Under Mary Beth’s leadership Somers municipal property tax rate remains the lowest in Westchester County. She will use her extensive administrative skills and her experience in the private sector as a practicing attorney to efficiently and effectively manage the County Clerk’s office.
