The Chapel School Kindergarteners Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with a Fiesta!
Bronxville, NY- On Monday May 5, 2014 kindergarten students at the Chapel School celebrated Cinco De Mayo by having a class fiesta. Students learned some words in Spanish discussed popular Mexican traditions and sampled authentic Mexican food. “There were so many treats in the piñata!” exclaimed one student. “Mmm this place smells delicious,” said another as she walked into the hallway. Students in Ms. Danielle DiCuio and Mrs. Maureen Bellotti’s class were also excited to see their teachers wearing sombreros and beautiful colored ponchos. “We want to instill a love of learning and creativity in each of our students,” said the kindergarten teachers. “We love to introduce them to new cultures and traditions.”
The study of various countries and cultures is a part of The Chapel School’s Multicultural Studies Program. This program enables the wonderfully diverse Chapel School family, which includes parents, guardians, students, teachers, administrators, to explore and celebrate traditions and accomplishments of people from a wide range of backgrounds. Music, art, literature, science, athletics, cuisine, dance and so much more! Field trips, special visitors and interdisciplinary curriculum connections help to make each unique experience meaningful and memorable.
