Oil soaked ducks and geese saved at Central Animal Hospital

3 ducks and 7 geese were found Friday, covered in oil, in Carroll Park in Thornwood. The doctors and staff at Central Animal Hospital in Scarsdale worked till late yesterday, washing each bird thoroughly, and providing fluids, warmth, and medical care.
Dr. Jason Siegelheim, one of the 9 veterinarians at Central Animal Hospital, with a special interest in exotic and bird medicine, was on hand utilizing his expertise, and was assisted by the other veterinarians, licensed veterinary technicians, and animal handlers.
Thanks to an alert Fire Chief, the DEC, and rehabilitators, the birds were brought to Central Animal Hospital quickly enough to be saved.
