Nurtle and Sticky! The Adventure Begins

School's out- let's keep the little ones reading with this new children's adventure series " Nurtle and Sticky!" 

Nurtle the Turtle awoke from his bed 

With the same ol' plan stuck in his head 

Nurtle: I'll keep the shades down and read, read read!

Because I'm alone, 

lonely, 

and a funny kind of breed

It was such a bright day on the beach- a better day than most

But Nurtle was only thinking of toasting some toast! 

Nurtle:"No outside for me" he said, 

I'll just butter some buttery bread!

Just then.. a noise outside startled his shell 

Nurtle:Who's there!? What's that?!?! 

They should know me so well!

He reached for his glasses and continued his day,

it was his need to read read read 

with envy, wonder and speed speed speed 

Never having the courage to go outside his shell

To Live out life, and see what he reads so well

As he carried on - his mind drifted asleep 

He Imagined the sun the rain 

and even the sleet

Wondered what sand felt like beneath his toes, 

Snowflakes or rain drops dancing upon his nose

When suddenly the noise outside again appeared 

Waking Nurtle the Turtle up with some fear

Nurtle: "Who goes there? 

And why won't you go away?!? "

"you know i will not come out 

and you know i won't play!"

Suddenly a voice from outside came with a laugh…

Sticky: "Ha ha! I am Sticky! I do what Sticky does! 

And I Stick around when I know what Was! " 

Nurtle:"What Was?" Nurtle said 

What in the Sand do you mean?"

"Don't you know I'm afraid and never to leave?!"

Sticky:"Yes I do!" Sticky said 

"I've protected you with all my might! 

Covering you up and keeping you out of site!

I see you've been sad and reading more than ever

I've decided enough's enough! 

Let's get you all better!"

Nurtle:"I'm ok! "Nurtle said 

"I'm fine…

I'm fine with my own kind

Out there is different, scary and loud

I've tried before and got kicked around 

I felt alone.. sad.. never ever very proud" 

"I'm done with trying , it's ok if i miss out!

I don't want any trouble- I wanna sit and pout "

Sticky:"No Way! No How! "

Sticky said with a bow

"No! Not This time! 

You need to explore and it will be just fine!"

"I'll be by your side and you will be free 

'Those' different out there will surely see

No more talk of them, theirs and yours 

Now be the world traveler and let's take 'Them' on Tours! " 

"We'll roam around and learn things anew! 

And bring back gifts from a different point of view"

"Look how Nurtle the Turtle can be so cool!?!"

"With a little dusting off, 

a change of clothes

 and some brand new shoes!!"

Nurtle:"How do you know and why do you care?"

Sticky:"I was once like you 

scared,

alone 

and bare" 

"They kicked me around because I was so light 

And I fought back hard - fought back with my might! "

"But that didn't work- work at all you see?

The wind blew me around

Right into the Sea! "

I had no choice but swim to survive 

I swam back to Shore -  Super strong and Very alive

"From that day on I was a hero you see?

All "Those"different "Theys"saw themselves as me! 

now everyone wants to be Sticky, you will see!"

Nurtle:"I -I I don't know if I can make it!" 

a shaking Nurtle said 

"It's been a long time- 

I have read all about it 

but i would rather fake it ! "

Sticky:"I'll lead you the way- don't you be scared 

Just look into the Clouds 

and the answers will be there!"

Nurtle:"What Clouds? Those Clouds? The Clouds so high? 

I've read about those Clouds those Clouds in the sky!"

"They move around and change all day 

They must know more about the world than those different "Theys" "

"I think I can get along with those 'Them' Clouds

I'll just look up… dream… and be so proud! "

Sticky:Yes! Yes! Now you're getting it! 

Just like me -Sticky-

 The one who was once skinny,

 brittle,

 and icky! 

"And look now! 

Hey! 

I'm the talk of the town!

And Nurtle the Turtle will do the same - 

Just Step outside and look around!"

Ha ha ha! They both laughed and agreed

Both: "Let's open up those shades and see what we see!!!!"
