Greenvale Celebrates St. Patrick's Day

Songs ranging from the classic Danny Boy to a rollicking Timber by Ke$ha kept the Greenvale School audience spell bound at a St. Patrick’s Day song and dance celebration.

Eastchester students from the Middle School, High School and Greenvale performed before an audience that packed the Greenvale gym. All the dancers have been trained at the Hendry School of Irish Dance in Eastchester.

The dancers included 2nd graders Kelly Hyland, Emma Kelly, Kiera Sullivan; 3rd graders Ciaran Collins, Tara Doyle, Jolie Flynn, Cecilia Murray, Kendall Murtha, Helena Taseva; 4th graders Avery Joyce, Emma Milaccio and Julia Summer. The students from the Middle School and High School included Cathrena Collins, Conor Collins, Lily Kunda, Meghan McCloskey, Emily Murtha, Brid O’Connell, and Dana Shina.

The dancers performed several reels and jogs, choreographed by Cathrena Collins,
who played, on keyboard, Traditional Jig, Cockles and Muscles and Danny Boy. Students were also delighted to hear Greenvale 5th grader Pierce O'Connell on the accordion, playing Britches Full of Stitches, The Black Velvet Bank and Slip Jig.
