Gold Crest Care Center, Bronx Nursing Home Reopens Warming Station for Local Elderly Citizens

Jan. 27, 2014 - QUEENS, N.Y. -- Gold Crest Care Center, a premier rehabilitation and skilled nursing center located in Bronx, New York, will be reopening its doors today as a warming station for community residents and locals of the area. This marks the second time this winter Gold Crest Care Center has opened its doors for those in need. The warming station will be manned by Gold Crest staff and will include warm refreshments and blankets. In addition to allowing local residents and those in the area to come in and warm up, nursing staff and volunteers will be providing tips on how to keep warm during cold weather. News 12 was on hand to document the event last time, reporting firsthand on the relief provided to elderly local residents.

While the weather today isn’t as cold as previous days, DNAInfo.com presents statistics from the National Weather Service that show that much of the week will see below freezing temperatures throughout the entire New York City area. Additionally, heavy snowfall is expected all day Tuesday, which should create hazardous travel conditions, especially as not all of the snow and ice from last week’s storm has been cleared from sidewalks and some streets.

“Gold Crest Care Center is proud to open it’s doors to anyone who needs some relief from this intense cold. The arctic freeze coming from the west will make travel conditions difficult for everyone and we advise that everyone, especially the elderly, stay indoors as much as possible,” added Mark Salamon, Administrator at Gold Crest Care Center.

Gold Crest Care Center is a 175 bed skilled nursing facility situated in the beautiful Pelham Gardens section of the Bronx. Clinically affiliated with most of New York's major hospitals, Gold Crest's professional and compassionate staff provides around-the-clock medical and nursing care in a comfortable and caring environment that centers around its residents.
