First of Its Kind Tri-State Area Jewish Day School, Yeshiva and Camp Fair on April 6th

Bringing together all denominations of the Jewish community, a first-ever Tri-State Area Jewish Day School, Yeshiva, and Camp Fair will bring together 19 Jewish day schools and yeshivot from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and 13 Jewish camps and Israel programs. The event will take place on Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., at Beth El Synagogue Center in New Rochelle.

“At a time when many see Jewish day schools and yeshivot in competition, this is a way for schools to collaborate in highlighting the importance of day school and yeshiva education and celebrating the diversity in educational choices. A meaningful, substantive, and engaging educational experience is critical to the vibrancy of the American Jewish community,” said Evan Levy, an organizer of the school fair from Beth El Synagogue Center and the president-elect of Carmel Academy in Greenwich, Connecticut, one of the schools participating in the fair.

The fair, which is free and open to all, will highlight the full-time educational opportunities available in the local Jewish community.

Modeled after a college fair, the Tri-State Area Community Jewish Day School, Yeshiva and Camp Fair will enable parents and students to explore the varying theological and educational styles of the participating schools and camps.  These schools and camps represent the spectrum of the Jewish community, including Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Pluralistic institutions providing traditional and special education programs. Previously, families have had to attend numerous open houses, peruse multiple websites or rely on word-of-mouth to identify their options for a day school or yeshiva education.  The fair pulls all that information together, with representatives from all the participating schools and camps in attendance to answer questions.

The fair is jointly sponsored by Beth El Synagogue Center, The Jewish Education Project, UJA-Federation of New York, and the Westchester Jewish Council.
