Chapel School Students Raise Over $5,000 during Walk-a-thon and Dance-a-thon

Chapel School Students Raise Over $5,000

Bronxville, NY- On Friday, May 23rd  students at The Chapel School in Bronxville participated in a Dance-a-thon and Walk-a-thon to raise funds to resurface the school’s gym floor. “The sun came out and our walkers and dancers enjoyed the party that followed,” stated a representative of the Chapel School Parent Teacher Organization. The school’s PTO organized the fun filled afternoon. “We were able to buy new padding for the gym after last year’s event, and wanted to stick with the athletic theme.” Since the students were dancing and walking, the PTO felt it was best to use the money towards the gym, a space that is utilized for many activities. Thanks to all of the walkers and dancers, the event raised more than $5000 on Friday.  Donations are still being accepted.

The children were excited to walk as many laps as they could, since some donations were made in the form of pledges based on student laps. Big smiles were seen across the field as Mr. Schultz, Mr. Cahalin, Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Vogt and Senora Palumbo received pies to the face. The pies in the face, a raffle prize won by a few students, were the highlight of the afternoon.

Students in The Chapel School Preschool boogied the afternoon away during the Sock Hop themed Dance-a-thon. “The children always look so adorable with their little poodle skirts, and jeans on,” stated one staffer. The children enjoyed doing the twist, blowing bubbles, and rocking and rolling.
