Bronx Based Gold Crest Care Center Provides Warming Station To Benefit the Community During Cold Snap

Gold Crest Care Center is providing a Warming Station for local residents seeking refuge from record-low temperatures and below zero degrees windchills in Pelham Bay, Bronx area.

Bronx, NY (January 7, 2014) - Gold Crest Care Center, a premier rehabilitation and skilled nursing center located in Bronx, New York, will be opening its doors today as a warming station for community residents and locals of the area in response to record-low temperatures this morning across New York City. The warming station will be manned by Gold Crest staff and will include warm refreshments and sweatshirts. In addition to allowing local residents and those in the area to come in and warm up, nursing staff and volunteers will be providing tips on how to keep warm during cold weather.

Mayor de Blasio has warned residents to bundle up and stay warm, “It’s going to get very cold, very quickly. We will get down to the single digits. With wind chill, we will be below zero in many parts of the city.” He also notes that most senior centers will only be “open for lunch”, but Gold Crest Care Center will provide it’s warming station throughout the day.
