ANDRUS Early Learning Center Focuses on Arts Education

Students at the ANDRUS Early Learning Center in Tuckahoe recently completed a large quilt following an eight-week arts education course.

ArtsWestchester teaching artist Randy Frost recently volunteered to teach the class and helped put together the 18-textile quilt highlighting each child's hand-print and birth date.

Each child was allowed to develop their own textile to add to the quilt. They put their hand print and birth date on each individual square. During the process, children were introduced to new vocabulary that was centered on quilting and they were exposed to different literature during the process.
