The Tuckahoe Middle School students and staff demonstrated the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, by putting on the Pink.
Each Wednesday throughout the month teachers and staff have been wearing pink and making a monetary contribution as a way to raise awareness of the importance of research to find a cure.
“The adults on this team believe when we model positive efforts for students, they rise to the occasion, and great things can be accomplished. Team TMS is truly impressive in its unity in committing itself to efforts supporting other people," said TMS Principal, Dr. Mundell.
The impact of an ill mother upon a family is immeasurable. Hearing a story of how a young daughter noticed something not right about her own mother’s breast which led to an early detection, a cure and the saving of her own mother’s life is a prime example of how engaging our youth is beneficial to us all.
Early detection is key to the treatment of breast cancer. Seeing the students of Tuckahoe help keep this disease in the forefront may encourage that one young lady of today, to take steps necessary to protect her own health in the future.
Seeing the young gentlemen of TMS join in support shows how far we have come as a society in bringing open discussion of this disease.
