Are you looking for a way to make an impact and a BIG difference in someone’s life? Do you like to work with people, perhaps offer comfort and a smile to someone who is ill? Then, Jansen Hospice may be the answer. Volunteers are a crucial part of our team.
Patient Care Volunteers offer support and companionship - by being a friendly face and visitor. They also help with shopping or transportation, assist with correspondence, and/or provide respite for the primary caregiver.
11th Hour Volunteers stay with actively dying patients during their last hours, and provide emotional support to both patients and family members.
Pet Therapy Volunteers - who have a dog or other pet (cat, bunny, horse, etc.) -undergo special training so that their pet can accompany them on visits to patients and their family.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer must first schedule an interview appointment. Appointments are being taken now for February interviews. Space is limited. For more information and to schedule an interview appointment, please call Didi Marcal, Volunteer Coordinator for Jansen Hospice, at 961.2818 ext. 355.
Once accepted, you will participate in a special training to become a hospice volunteer. Training begins March 6 and meets on consecutive Tuesday afternoons for two hours each week for seven weeks.
Jansen Hospice provides hospice services to communities throughout Westchester County.
