Bronxville Library Presents Karen Falk

 

On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m., The Friends of the Bronxville Public Library welcome author Karen Falk.

Falk will discuss her book, Imagination Illustrated, The Jim Henson Journal. This is a rescheduled event due to earlier hurricane Sandy cancellation.

Jim Henson’s iconic puppet characters, fantastic worlds, and warm humor have delighted millions of people of all ages. Through Imagination Illustrated, The Jim Henson Journal. Henson’s charm, genius and incredibly diverse body of work, from the Muppets to the world of The Dark Crystal, are revealed.

Archivist Karen Falk will delve into the behind-the-scenes details of Henson’s life and artistic process. According to Falk, “The Journal is a private, family document that has never been shared publicly. We thought it was time to share it with Henson fans as a compelling gateway to Jim’s story.” In her foreword, Henson’s daughter Lisa says, “In this book, you are able to see snapshots of my father’s creative process, flashes of his inspirations and his memories of the milestones that were the highlights of his personal and professional life.”

Starting with his actual hand-written entries and supplementing it with a trove of little-seen visual material from The Jim Henson Company archives, the book includes rare sketches, personal and production photographs, storyboards, doodles, and much more.

Hosted by the Friends of the Bronxville Public Library, this latest event in their ongoing author series will be held in the Yeager Community Room at the library and is open to the public. Admission is free. Reception to follow.
