Pulitzer Prize Winner Tracy K. Smith Gives Poetry Reading in Bronxville

5 things to know to start your day

1. Brooklyn-based Tracy K. Smith, winner of the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, will present a poetry reading Wednesday at Sarah Lawrence College. Smith teaches creative writing at Princeton University. She earned her BA from Harvard University and an MFA from Columbia University, and she won the Pulitzer for her book “Life on Mars.” Free, 6:30 p.m. Sarah Lawrence College, the Slonim Living Room, 1 Mead Way, Bronxville.

2. Benefit: Make-A-Wish Foundation: Mike Barr/Pete DiGiovanni Friends and Family Band are hosting their annual rock'n'roll show on Wednesday to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The suggested donation of $25 includes buffet dinner.  Raffle tickets are also available - dozens of great prizes have been donated by local merchants. 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The Vintage Restaurant, 171 Main St., White Plains.


3. The weather will be cloudy Wednesday, with a high of 68 degrees and a 20 percent chance of rain. The low temperature will be about 60 degrees.
