Night Closures on Bronx River Parkway; Visit Eastchester's Nature Preserve

1) Night closures on the Bronx River Parkway – in the northbound and southbound directions from the Sprain Brook Parkway – are starting Thursday. The closures will occur from Yonkers to the Westchester County Center (Exit 22) in White Plains starting on Sept. 26 and continuing on Sept. 27, Sept. 28 and Sept. 30. 

2) The, Bronxville ~ Eastchester~ Tuckahoe Nature Preserve is located on the corners of Archer Place and Crawford Street. The land has been an ongoing project by community members to turn a "decaying leaf dump" into an "inviting, vibrant open space, filled with indigenous trees, plants, flowers and bushes."

The Steering Committee invites you to visit and enjoy nature in the midst of Eastchester’s busy township. Tax-deductible contributions to maintain the property can be made to: The Nature Preserve/Village of Bronxville P.O. Box 325, Bronxville, NY 10708.

3) Sponsored by Westchester County and The Volunteer Center of United Way, “9/11: Serve & Remember” from Sept. 3-11 drew more than 800 volunteers from Westchester as well as Putnam, Rockland and Ulster who collectively donated more than 1,160 hours of service, according to The Volunteer Center. 4) The Junior League of Bronxville (JLB) is inviting prospective new members to attend its informational social event on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 9:15 a.m. The event offers women interested in joining the organization an opportunity to meet current members, learn how to become an active member, and obtain more information on how the JLB serves the community. 5) According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will be sunny, with a high near 71.
