Jeffrey Rohr wins by just under 40 votes, replacing Richard Rugani on the Bronxville School Board while all other races went unopposed in Eastchester and Tuckahoe.

The village of Bronxville will see a new face on their school board come next fall as Jeffrey Rohr got the votes he needed to become the newest member of the board. Here are the break downs from the polls as of 10 p.m. All results are preliminary. In Eastchester, all three school board candidates were running unopposed and here are the tallies for the unopposed incumbents. And in Tuckahoe, incumbent school board member Michael Collins was unopposed for the lone available seat. Collins was appointed in October to serve the unexpired term of Bronxville resident James Oliverio, who resigned in September after serving more than eight years on the board.

Signs Point to Low Turn Out for GOP Presidential Primary Today

Drop out of Rick Santorum, wide lead for Romney in polls, among signs

New York's Republican presidential primary is today, but don't expect the excitement seen from earlier nomination contests. With former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum having dropped out earlier this month, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is now being referred to as the "presumptive front runner" in published media reports. Even in the closing weeks of Santorum's candidacy, polls for New York (including Quinnipiac and Siena) showed Romeny with large double-digit leads. Santorum is still listed on the ballot, according to records from the state's board of elections. Westchester County Legislative Minority Leader Jim Maisano (R-New Rochelle) noted the lack of talk for the event in a Journal News interview on Sunday. “No one I …

Letter to the Editor: George Latimer Responds to Criticism of Commuter Surveying

NY State Assemblyman George Latimer explains, among other things, why its important to survey commuters within his constituency.

Editor's Note: The below letter does not necessarily represent the views of Patch media. In response to Bronxville Republican Chairwoman Rene Atayan's Letter to the Editor on Apr. 10 regarding NY State Assemblyman George Latimer's commuter surveying which can be viewed here, Latimer has provided a rebuttal below. Dear Editor,  Bronxville Republican Chairwoman Rene Atayan has attacked for me doing something I've been doing for eight years—simply put, doing my job as an Assemblyman. Local newspapers and online outlets covered the story back in February—over a month in advance of my announcement for the State Senate— that I was engaged in surveying Metro-North commuters once again, to gauge the issues at hand in their daily commute. I've …

At a time when the nation is facing a looming crossroads on account of its long-term fiscal imbalances, Joe Carvin's entry into the race should allow for a rich debate on that critical issue. Today, the U.S. still has broad latitude to address its long-term imbalances. Its debt intolerance is high, interest rates are near historic lows, and the economy still has a lot of growth potential. [VIDEO] Larchmont's Rosen Drops Out Of Congressional Race After New District Lines Are Drawn

He's endorsing Rye Town Supervisor to run against U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey.

Larchmont Republican Mark Rosen has ended his 2012 bid for Congress and this morning endorsed Rye Town Supervisor Joe Carvin to challenge U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Westchester/Rockland. Rosen said the judicially-imposed reallignment of Congressional Districts in New York has taken him out of Lowey's district for the 2012 race, and put him in the district of U.S. Rep. Eliot Engel, D-Bronx/Westchester. Rosen, 50, said he was encouraged by some supporters to move so he could remain in Lowey's district and challenge her in November. However, Rosen said he felt such a move would be too disruptive to his family and he rejected the idea.
