Tuckahoe Team Competes Internationally

Tuckahoe's Rockin' Robots went head-to-head with teams from 39 other countries.


Tuckahoe's Rockin' Robots robotics team has competed in the World Festival Tournament in Saint Louis. The team, which is comprised of children ages 11-15 years old who live in Tuckahoe, placed 16th out of 80 when going up against the best teams from around the world. Teams from China and Switzerland snagged the competition's top two spots.

At the Saint Louis competition, there were teams from more than 40 countries represented. Tuckahoe's Rockin' Robots just came off their 1st place victory at the Hudson Valley Championships, which was held in Dutchess County.

The Rockin' Robots team is celebrating is 4th season. During the current season, the team is working on ways to help seniors. As part of their effort, team members are focusing on fall prevention. They researched how to prevent falls and how to reduce emergency response time in case of a fall. The Rockin' Robots presented their fall prevention program at Lake Isle Senior Center.

Back in 2011, the Rockin' Robots won the Hudson Valley Championship. They were also one of 76 teams that qualified for the North American Robotics competition.
