Burgeoning Singer/Songwriter Grace Doty in Mohegan Lake

Having just recorded eight new songs for her upcoming EP "Stuff From My Brain", Grace Doty is gaining momentum as a popular songwriter with Westchester roots and will be in Mohegan Lake Wednesday Apr. 4.

Many small children enjoy singing and dancing, much to their parent's delight, but for 20 year-old Grace Doty, an Eastchester native and now professional singer/songwriter, her abilities were brought out as early as eight months old.

Her family recalls her ability to sing with perfect pitch, and her imagination for making up her own songs and now as an adult, she is gathering a strong following nationwide and will be appearing this Wednesday Apr. 4 in Mohegan Lake.

Doty says that in the last year, she has been primarily focusing on creating new material in the studio such as her new EP "Stuff From My Brain", along with building her fanbase through social media sites like facebook and youtube.

"I have just under 3,300 subscribers as well as over 476,000 views on youtube and I'm constantly writing music, which is part of the reason my EP has taken longer than expected," the singer explains.

"It started off as a 4 song EP, and has somehow now become an 8 song EP and I have also been playing gigs whenever I get a chance," Doty continued.

Karma Lounge in Ossining, Route 6 Bistrant in Mahopac, The Winery at St. George, and Watercolor Cafe being a few of the venues the young singer has been performing at and she hopes to play a great deal more live shows now that her EP is in post-production.

"The great thing about my Apr. 4th show is that it will be one of the first times I've been able to play a full band show of my own original music," Doty explained.

"Normally I play acoustic shows with me singing and playing the acoustic guitar, which limits the material I can play, especially since I do write a lot of rock music. But I've since gotten a great band together and have worked on a bunch of new material with them so that I can start to play more shows that aren't just acoustic coffee-house style."

Grace Doty's Apr. 4 show will begin at 8:30 p.m. at The Winery at St. George, located at 1715 E. Main St. in Mohegan Lake.  For tickets and more information on when Doty will be performing next, visit her website at gracedoty.com.
