About Town: Celebrity Prom for Bronxville's Operation Prom
The New York City event benefited the Bronxville-based "Operation Prom" and brought all the glitz and glamor that the non-profit has to offer to the Big Apple.
The prom-goers began arriving around 7pm to the historic Essex House on Central Park South, and were greeted with swank décor, thumping music, and an open bar.
Not to worry, parents, this was “Rahm’s Prom” a charity ball benefitting local organization Operation Prom, and hosted by Randi Rahm, the couture designer whose gowns have graced Hollywood’s biggest stars, from Ann-Margaret to Catherine Zeta-Jones.

As 200 guests sipped chardonnay and perused silent auction items ranging from an Eli Manning autographed football to a VIP package from Joan Rivers, up and coming singer Jonet rocked the stage with her powerful voice. MC David Evangelista, the celebrity hairstylist, joked with guests before Rahm herself took the stage to extol the work of Operation Prom, founded by Bronxville resident Noel D’Allaco.
The organization collects gently used dresses (and tuxedos) across our area and donates them to high schoolers in need, and is expanding nationally, having recently opened a chapter in Atlanta.

Making her way around the Essex’s VIP Lounge and Grand Salon, D’Allaco not only talked up the organization, but walked the walk in a donated black evening gown. She told us that when Rahm decided she wanted to throw a prom, she found out about Operation Prom and decided to make them part of the evening’s festivities. Also benefiting from the ball was The Children’s Storefront, a non-profit private school in Harlem.
Meanwhile, the beauty queens, literally, took to the dance floor - among the evening's guest were Miss Maine, Rani Williamson, Miss New York, Johanna Sambucini, Miss New York Teen Sabrina Mastrangelo, and Miss Hudson Valley Teen Bianca Gallub.
At the end of the evening, nearly forty guests had donated their dresses to Operation Prom, but it was the connections made, and awareness generated during the evening that were the big benefit for D’Allaco and her team.
