Manhattan College Sponsors Locks of Love Event on Feb. 12
On Sunday, Feb. 12, Manhattan College’s student activities will host an event in support of Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to children who are 21 or younger and suffering from medical hair loss and unable to afford hairpieces. The event will take place at 2 p.m. in the student government lounge on the third floor of Thomas Hall, where hairdressers from Le Chic will be cutting hair for free. All are welcome to attend the event, and the College encourages all who are willing to donate to come out on Feb. 12.
The organization is dedicated to offering a service for those who have lost not only their hair, but also their sense of self in an effort to boost self-esteem. Locks of Love requests that supporters donate no shorter than 10 inches of hair. In addition, when preparing to donate, please ensure hair is clean, dry and free of bleach, is in either a braid or a ponytail, and if you have layers, the longest layer is at least 10 inches. Those with perms or colored hair are also welcome to donate.
If interested in helping and unable to attend, please contact Megan Papandrea, senior class president, by email at mpapandrea.student@manhattan.edu.
